Picaresque novel

“El Lazarillo de Tormes” is a book with unknown author. It’s another novel based on Salamanca city. With that book was created the picaresque literary genre. Other picaresque novels would be written later. The Spanish Inquisition banned this book. The novel is based on the story of a roguish and his adventures with an old blind man.
In Salamanca, there is a Roman bridge over the river Tormes and at the bridge entrance there is an Iberian boar, in reference to the picaresque novel “El Lazarillo de Tormes”. In Salamanca you can find too a sculpture that represents Lazarillo (the roguish) and the blind man.
