Centre of power and royalty
Since the Middle Ages Valladolid was a very important city. The court and the literature were essential in the life of the village.
Some of the most important kings are related to the city: Fernando III, he was appointed king in this city in 1217. Enrique I was born in Valladolid and in this city Isabel I de Castilla and Fernando II de Aragón (Catholic Kings) got married (1469). Felipe II was born in Valladolid (1527).
